Notes from a Sweathead session on Strategy with the Mighty Mark Pollard. (April 18, 2020)
- Wisdom or insight is in the problem. Good problem statement is an insight.
- Insights come from micro observations we make about people, feelings and behaviour. The macro view may not give you much.
- Sometimes information is not new. It is only psychologically or socially new.
- Empathy is a superpower and a weakness.
- Strategy is writing good non-fiction.
Interaction over open-office hours.
A candid conversation can have more insights than a structured panel.
Sharing vulnerabilities that come with the profession and personal contexts feels human, even over remote sessions.
Bonus, from one of his recent stories to make a C.A.S.E:
Mark Pollard speaks about strategy work from a human perspective with frameworks that inspire deeper thinking.
